Ok, what you do is put in there some lies. Like, your parents are finally buying you a car, and you hope your sister doesn't find out. Or, put in there that her boyfriend or husband was caught with another woman, and you arne't sure if you should tell her. Basically, cause her embarassment, and then when she asks how could you, you can reply that if she wasn't snooping, you would have to do that.
Either that, or get another diary, and make that one more creative and hide your real one.

Well, if you think she read it for sure, then you need to talk to her! Explain her that's it's your thoughts, feelings, fears in there, and you'll appreciate if she is not going to tell anyone about it, and also tell her it's was not very nice going through your stuff, she needs to respect you!
And for the future, keep your diary away from others!!! Don't leave it in not a safe place.
Don't get mad on her now, what's done is done, but you're going to be sisters forever.
good luck

Oh yes you can be mad at her!
Keep it locked with a key lock. You obviously can not trust your family. Go buy a lock with the hardware, install it somewhere, when I was a kid I installed it on my bedroom door. This way know one could get into my room for I had similar things happen.
Talk to your parents first though, if nothing is done get the lock...Trust is a big issue and if you can not even trust your own family.....

You still have the right to be mad, she did something that was personal to you. Besides, what is a 30 year old going through your diary. How childish is that?

You can so totally be mad at her. But if there are stuff in the diary like negative thoughts it is good she read it then. Coz this sort of happened 2 me but it was my mum who found it. She confronted me and it was all good after that.

Amanda, you have every right to be pissed off. It's plainly obvious that she was snooping and invaded your private space. My suggestion is to tell her she had no right to snoop on your peronal life and please don't do it again. Ask her how she would fee if you snooped on her and discovered stuff that was personal to you. But whatever you do, don't let this form a wedge between you and her, it's not worth that.

Let me tell you something. My sister died a year ago. I'd give anything to have her read anything I have.
You'll realize as you get older that even though you have a right to be upset, she is still your sister and you love her just as she loves you.
