This is an awesome ? and hopefully it will get some people thinking and start a campaign to require motorcycle helmets.
There have been too many deaths attributed to people not wearing helmets.

Because the feds require that states pass those laws (seat belt) to get all of their highway funding. The fed has not yet required helmet laws yet. My father owns a motorcycle shop, and won't sell the illegal helmets, and has lost a few customers because of it. Personally, I always wear a helmet w/ a face shield on the road( don't like cleaning bugs out of my beard). In the state where I live, helmets are required, but in Oh., where my dad lives, they are not. I have been hit in the head by rocks thrown from truck wheels, even had them crack and ruin helmets in the past. I have been riding for over 20 years, and I don't understand why people don't want to wear them.

The fine people who think they know everything decided not to write the law for helmets. These people are commonly referred to as politicians. They think they can write laws about everything, but they can't seem to even realize that wearing a motorcycle helmet on a motorcycle makes the user much safer then wearing a seat belt in a car.
Oh, I am a very strong supporter of wearing both a helmet on a motorcycle and a seat belt in a car. Very important (engineers wouldn't include seat belts in automotive design if they weren't an important safety feature).
Another example would be education...teachers should write educational policies.
Summary: BLAME THE POLITICIANS...they need to request help from the people who know more about these specific issues. (i.e. Police Officers, Fire Fighters, Paramedics and Doctors,...etc.)

More people actively drive cars and trucks. The states involved are thinking about their safety. For some reason states where motorcycles are built Pennsylvania in particular there is intensive lobbying for cyclists rights. "Bone headed' as it is.
Believe me in a car or truck when evasive actions are necessary the driver has more control behind the steering wheel than sliding across the seat and risk being thrown out in a roll over

is that really true? haha, maybe law makers assume that people are smart enough to wear helmets when riding motorcycles, but dumb enough to not wear seat belts. but really, if you are zooming around on a motorcycle at 90 mph without a helmet, you might just be so stupid you really need to suck food through a straw for the rest of your life.

Amazing isn't it . I got one even better. In the State of Arizona if you're a refrigerator you need to be secured in the back of an open pick up truck. If however you're a person including a child no such restraints are required.
