Over the past couple of years, we have travelled to USA to visit my daughter, luggage allowance for Long Haul to USA via British Airways, of two suitcases each. We take three, one each for me & my husband, and one full of gifts and requested items they cannot get hold of over that side of the pond.

There was an item about them reducing the number of suitcases - does that effect LONG HAUL ??? I have been happily filling a suitcase full of toys and gifts for the grandchildren, and dont want to disapoint them!

If you are flying to the US on British Airways, you are allowed two checked bags. If you are flying 1st class, you get 3 bags. Always check with the airline that you are flying on as their requirements differ from airline to airline.

Here's the link to British Airway's luggage requirements:

I read all about this a couple months ago on a news website. But the changes do not affect flights to the USA. You are still allowed 2 suitcases for each passenger.

you are allowed two suitcases per person to USA. But why don't you check with your airline website to be sure. They keep changing the rules on us. I know we are allowed 2 suitcases to Europe from US. The weigh of the suitcase may have changed for you.

Have a great trip

I phoned BA just the other day because I'll be flying soon to ask about the extra charge I read about on the internet. They said we are allowed 2 suitcases still and one carry on.

No problem. each and every of the greater effective in case you have wheelie circumstances. you are able to pile them up much less complicated. There are some unofficial porters around - attempt to sidestep them. some acquaintances have had some nightmare thoughts - pilfering etc. they have an inclination to function greater late at evening. you have been warned.

i think it depends on the airline and it's your responsibility as a passenger to check it out - you cant rely on airlines to tell you things!
