We are a family of 5 ages 29, 27, 9, 4 and newborn. We are looking for a decent size vehicle other than a minivan to transport all of us, 2002 or newer for under $10K. Any suggestions?

Go to Carmax.com

They have good prices and you can search by price, make, year, model, etc.

Good luck! We are also a family of 5 soon to be 6 and have a mini van. While I hate the thing It was all we could afford a few years ago. SUV's bis enought o comfortably fit your family and newer than 2002 will still run you about 16-20 thousand. You might check in to a Ford Explorer some of them have 3rd row seating and can be a little cheaper than other larger suv's good luck!

2 years ago I got a 2001 Durango - it has the 7 seat area and the back seats are truly big enough that my 13 & 16 year old boys fit there comfortably. gas milage ranges from 15 - 18 MPG but I love the ability to get my kids in the truck - and IT'S NOT A MINIVAN . i couldn't drive one of them -- YUCK.

I only paid 13,000 and it had about 35000 miles on it - it's now at just shy of 96000 and still runs like a dream and looks great -

Good Luck to you.

another place you can try to find something is
http://www.carsunder10k.com/app

they are mostly dealers in your area - it askes for your zip code - they are not private sales.

I bought a 2004 chrysler pacifica for 15,300. I know that is above your price, but you can surely get a 2002 model for the price you want.. I love mine. They are very unassuming on the outside, but the inside has very high quality controls and materials, which makes for a pleasant ride.

You can also get an AWD model if you live in a snowy region.
Obviously you will need to get the 3rd row seating.

WHAT'S WRONG WITH A MINI VAN. THEY GET BETTER MILEAGE THAN A SUV. OTHER WISE GUESS IT'S A CAR FOR THE 5 OF YOU. GOOD LUCK.

Check on craigslist.com or backpage.com. They have classifieds that you can search based on location. They're really helpful!
