As in: Someone would ask a question like, "Don't you think God is great?", and whenever someone would answer like, "Yes, I do, knowing he's up there helps me out" or something more elaborate ((and that makes more sense)), people rate it down to like, ten thumbs-down. I'm not an extremely spiritual person and I'm not outraged or anything, but why do people do it?

I have a problem with this too. Thanks for bringing it up. I only give a thumbs down to the people I think are being very closed minded, but that works both ways. I don't understand why everyone needs to be so rude to anyone with a different sets of beliefs than themselves. I'm am in fact an atheist, but just because I am, doesn't mean i think you should be. It's like me says that my favorite color is orange, therefore yours should be.

That is not a spiritual answer. You must realize that refering to God as "he", will trigger an automatic connection to the death and distruction that has been committed in "his" name. Alot of us don't believe in forgiveness the way you Christians do, and we beleive that Christianity has a big price to pay for it's crimes against humanity!
I'm not saying that anyone of you is responsable for the past, but if you accept this as your faith, you are taking on all the bad Karma that your faith has created for itself.
So next time you think that we "non-christians" are being harsh, think of all the indiginous cultures that have been distroyed in the name of Christ.
