In the movies where there's a bomb and they turn on the car and it explodes. Help!?

So, maybe I'm being paranoid, but my sister heard someone outside fiddling with our cars and she thought it was my brother (but it wasn't), so we run outside and find nothing. But they were sure they heard someone messing around with the car. What could be? The doors are locked on the car; what could they want? I'm scared maybe they put one of those bombs on the car that explodes when you turn the car on - how do they work? Is there a way to check for that? Where are they planted, what do they look like?

Any ideas? Help please please please! Thanks

Are you involved with the mafia? If so, and you pissed someone off, you may have a problem. Other than that, there is no real reason to try to do this because of the intricate work involved. A person would have to know the inner workings and wiring color coding of the particular vehicle, and then connect it in such a way that the 12v would activate an igniter. Doing all of this and keeping it so it is not obvious to anyone inspecting the vehicle would prove very time consuming and not worth the effort unless, like I said before, you pissed off someone higher ranking in the mob.

FYI, this happened once in my hometown to a guy that was in with the mob. They found parts of his Lincoln all over the parking lot, and the hood even landed 100 yards away in the middle of a major street.

Just take a look under your car and under the hood, and if there is anything there that looks like it isn't part of the car, call the cops. Other than that, it was probably someone looking to steal your car or the stereo out of it.

wow very paranoid aren't we. If you would like call your local police dept or fire dept to check out the vehicle. Most car bombs are targeted at very important ppl and in war torn countries. Chances of a car bomb in your car are slim to none. more than likely you scared off someone trying to steal the car or an item in it. As for what they look like well they can look like anything. A CD laying on the floor or seat. A hubcap. even the steering wheel. A professional terrorist uses plastic explosives these days and it can be painted and made to look like anything. I heard a rumor once of a bomb made to look like tire tread. They had actually placed a plastic explosive on the tread in a paper thin layer. When the car moved .... BOOM.. Another of a tricycle made completely out of plastic explosive. If they wanted to harm you they would have already so I would say it is probably safe to drive the car but have the police check it out if you feel it is absolutely necessary. I was a engineer for the US Army dealing with explosives so I have some knowledge.

nicely there are a number of procedures. If its a Suicide bomb then there is maximum probable an hassle-free button someplace interior the vehicle, or perhaps only 2 loose cables. The bomb you are talking about is most likely C4 and needs an electrical current to ignite.

If you reaaly are paranoid, check the starter or ignition point and you will see, it will look like putty.

My guess is someone was trying to steal your car....

If it wasn't a curious cat snooping around, it may have been a thief checking the doors to see if they were locked, so they could either get in and steal something or take the car. No One would have a reason to bomb your car...............................

they may have just been trying to steal it.

but about the bomb thing it is connected to the ignition so when the car is turned on it activates it.

most times they are placed under the car or put inside it to hide it better.

Do you have any enemies that might want to blow you up? If not, consider that maybe it was a vandal or thief; wouldn't that be a much more likely scenario than a car bomber?

Yeah sounds like a bomb sorry man. I mean if you heard sounds then it's definitely is. They could just want your body. Pay your electric bill man or they'll come get you. Oh yeah and lay of the crack.
