Theoretically speaking, the soul is comprised of ions or energy, invisible to the naked eye. It has the ability to move onto other planes, such as the most commonly known, astral plane. Scientists have detected a miniscule drop in the weight of a person at the time of death. People who believe in souls attribute this discrepancy to the soul departing the body, supposedly for the astral plane (or heaven ... or whatever). There have been numerous accounts of astral projection. I know of only one that was verified by another person -- both people skeptical of it's existence at the time but have since changed their attitude (no drugs involved). There is also a theory that there exists in the astral plane, records of all knowledge known as the Akasha records. They are (again ... theoretically ... is this getting boring or what?) not accesible to just anyone who visits the astral plane. If you have any "occult" bookstores you can check out, go for it. For the record "occult" just means natural law. It has nothing to do with Satan worship, dark arts or whatever. Natural Law. Plain and simple.

The Spirit is: the inner person,the real you
The Body is: flesh,blood,bone.

'Soul' is a word used by ignorant people to describe various functions of the brain. There was a point when science couldn't explain these functions very well, so people invented a supernatural explanation. Now that we know better, people are reluctant to move on.
