Their main argument is that the terrorist will follow us home....but from the looks of things, I'd say the Sunnis and Shi'ites would be too busy fighting each other if we left....If this is the only reason to keep us over there in Iraq, then why do we need to stay in the middle of their civil war

You can't say we'd look irresponsible for leaving when we started it, because we already look like douche bags to the rest of the world, and they already want us to leave

If you are afraid of them forming a fundamentalist theocratic government (Sunni or Shia), then at least you know that with our large arsenal of conventional weapons it's easier to topple a centralized government than a terrorist insurgency.

So, give me some reasons why I am wrong...or do you like spending forklift loads of money on Iraq's freedom?

In case you hadn't noticed there have been many terrorist attacks in many European cites as well as in America. Such attacks require planning, funding and distribution of technical data. If you wish to defeat the terrorists (I assume you do) you do so by using a multi-pronged attack. Some of the things you do are tactical. Some are strategic.

To win you must make sure that these people have no place to hide, no host country. You need to cut off their funding. You need to interfere with their planning and you need to capture or kill them, their leaders and recruiters. You need to disrupt their ability to communicate. Once that is successful you use law enforcement to ferret out small cells hiding among your citizens.

The newly elected government of Iraq is the first foothold for liberty. If it can be held and the government successful, liberty will spread throughout the middle east and begin a new Renaissance for the long oppressed people that reside there.

Once people taste freedom and self determination it is nearly impossible to put that genie back in the bottle.

A lot is at stake in Iraq. You can oppose it if you like. But it is the right thing to do if the world will ever be free of the conditions that spawn terrorism.

Because the Iraqi people have gone and created a democratic government.

The people conducting the attacks oppose the will of the Iraqi people and want to set themselves up as dictators.

Whose side are you on? That of the Iraqi people or that of the terrorists?
