This verse is speaking to the Jewish people. Those that converted from Judaism to Christianity. Some wanted to go back to their old way... if they would have... there would not be any more sacrifice for sins.
Christ is the final sacrifice of all sins... that day He took past, present, and future sins of mankind upon His shoulders.
