Hello everyone. i'm thinking on joining the navy, but i have prior service in the army reserve. i didnt finish my contract with them and received a general discharge, with a discharge code of jga. can i join the navy, or will i have to do the army? i'd much prefer the navy, but would go for 25B in the army. also, i took the asvab last year in october and got an 81. hope this helps. thanx.

whats your RE code? if it is a 4, you won't get back in anywhere except maybe the Army Guard. with a 3, you will need a waiver, but the Navy doesn't take a lot of Prior service folks.

umm..Aw..the highest score one can get on the ASVAB is a 99. the minimum requirments are 31 for the Army and between 35-38 for all the other branches.

Unless they lowered the requirements on the ASVAB testing you needed to score a 100 or above check with a navy recruiter. They would be able to help further assist you with your other issue about the army reserve.

Talk to a Navy recruiter. Take all your paperwork and tell the whole story

Contact a recruiter. She or he should be more able to tell you what your reentry could means.
