You can boost your immune system by eating properly, making sure you get enough B and C vitamins, maybe take a daily multivitamin with one of your meals.

However, the best way to prevent contagious diseases is by washing your hands frequently. Soap and water scrubbings are best, but the alcohol lotions will also help. Clean doorknobs and other frequently touched surfaces with Lysol or a bleach wipe. Don't touch your face or nose unless your hands are freshly cleaned, especially during cold and flu season (and with kids that seems to be all the time).

Get some Zicam, and at the very first inkling of a cold, start using it. If you can run out during your lunchtime today, that may help you fight off this present virus. If it's just a cold, you shouldn't have to see a doctor.

Airborne. It's about $7 (more or less) and comes in a little canister. It's sold in a small box in the cough and cold section of a store. You take 1 tablet and dissolve it in a glass of water (or juice, or soda - if it is just too unpalatable). Don't make the glass too full, because you have to drink the entire glass to get the entire medication. Airborne is actually not a medication, but a bunch of herbal stuff to help the body's natural immune system kick in. If you do this 2-3 times a day, you will help ward off future germs and can shorten the duration of an existing cold. Of course lots of fluids, such as water and juice, and plenty of rest is probably the quickest way to get better.

Thing is though, that many doctors offer evening appointments or appointments during lunch. Co-workers would likely not resent you too much for taking off to see a doctor because they don't want to catch what you have. Also, a doctor could prescribe an antibiotic if your condition warrants one, and you could be feeling better much sooner. If you don't see a doctor and you end up feeling worse, you would end up with time off work because you are sick in bed.

I hope you get to feeling better soon.
