There are VERY few companies that do short period policies nowadays. Just bite the bullet. She will have to go on your policy. Can't have two policies on the one car...unless they are both third party only.

you could insure her for a year - do a search on confused.com - very good prices.- you could then cancel the policy in august (check how much cancellation fee is - mine was £40 with motaquote) that would work out cheaper than having her own policy for a year.

I am now with admiral - good prices again....

I started off on my fathers insurance for 3 or 4 years and my no claims was then transferred to my own insurance so i still built up my no claims as a named driver which was good!!

insurance was therefore a lot cheaper!!

hope this helps!!

Minimum insurance is for 1 year. You will lose that money if you change policies in between. Try Elephant insurance - cheapest I could find.

You could move your insurance now and put your daughter on the new policy. I had to do this cos my original insurance company wouldn't insure my son. I'm now with N.F.U. and they were surprisingly cheap.

Try using a brokerage service, they will be listed in the yellow pages, there is a version on the internet called Yell I think.

You may find 6 months coverage ends up costing you as much as a year.

Also try direct line they are advertising options to allow named drivers to earn their own no claims bonus.
