compassion:
1340, from O.Fr. compassion, from L.L. compassionem (nom. compassio) "sympathy," from compassus, pp. of compati "to feel pity," from com- "together" + pati "to suffer" (see passion). Loan-translation of Gk. sympatheia. Phrase compassion conservatism in American political language first recorded by 1992, popularized, if not coined, by Marvin Olasky, University of Texas at Austin instructor.

Willing to put a piece of yourself - your trust, your empathy, your love, your strength out there for another person even if it puts you at risk for being hurt.

Compassion is what one experiences when we are tender and kind and loving for another. It could be a mate or a pet, a plant or a meal, but the fellings are the same, just slightly slanted in a different direction!
Having compassion for a good book just might inspire you to continue having compassion for other objects or sunny days!!
It's a state of pleasant mind and a passion that is felt inside, no matter the tone of it nor the measure of it. Compassion for this program prods you forward in the quest for MORE POINTS!! ha ha!!

First a dictionary definition...
The noun compassion has 2 meanings:
Meaning #1: a deep awareness of and sympathy for another's suffering
Synonym: compassionateness
Meaning #2: the humane quality of understanding the suffering of others and wanting to do something about it
***********************************
Now, let's break the word down into its separate parts.
Come - Moving towards a speaker or a specific location. "Approach."
Passion - A powerful emotion such as love, joy, hatred, anger or sexual desire.
So to say that someone behaves in a "come-passionate" way would not necessarily limit them to empathetic responses to another's suffering. Technically, it could also be used as an empathetic response to any strong emotion resulting from an exterior stumulus.

Its the way of showing warmth and congruence, being empathic! The gift of showing mercy has to do with a special giving of ones time and self. It involves deeds of compassion on behalf of people in difficult situations, perhaps the sick or the down-and-out. The New Testament gives an example of the gift of showing mercy by a man named Onesiphorus. When the Apostle Paul was imprisoned in Rome, Onesiphorus showed mercy:
The Lord grant mercy to the house of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain; but when he arrived in Rome, he sought me out very diligently and found me (2 Timothy 1:16,17).
Onesiphoruss example is one that every Christian should follow. He spent time and effort to help one who was having difficulty, and he continually ministered to him.

Empathy. We really feel what others are feeling like it was us who were suffering. Since we were made in the image of God, we reflect his qualities (at an imperfect level always) Love and Compassion. We also reflect other qualities such as anger, hate. These emotions are imperfect in humans. God does not hate. He is righteously indignant.

Compassion is giving up your time or money to help someone in need. It is not just a feeling, that is empathy. Compassion is acting on that emotion and providing tangible help.

Compassion is more than feeling sorry for someone. It is showing feeling towards someone and doing all in your means to help that person.

Putting others before yourself, treating others in the manner in which you want to be treated yourself. Caring about those that don't even like you.
Compassion, Concerned passion, Concerned loved.
Exampled by Christ.
Are you a good person? What a question, most of us believe that we are good people because we can look around and find someone that is far worse than we are. We can always point to the things that we think make us a good person.
But how good are we really? Dare we take this test and look at ourselves and see if we really are good? Hmmm.
If you are willing try this and see just how good a person you are.
The Good Person Test.
How will you do? Pass or fail?
Have you ever told a lie?
Doesn't matter how big or small, just a lie.
What does that make you? Before answering think about this, if I told you a lie what would you call me? A liar?
Have you ever stolen anything? Cost doesn't matter, a piece of gum, failed to give back an ink pen that you borrowed, anything.
What does that make you?
Jesus said, "You know the saying of old, you shall not commit adultery but I say that if look at someone to lust after them you have committed adultery in your heart.
Have you ever lusted?
Jesus said that hate is equal to murder.
Have you ever hated anyone?
See one day we all are going to stand before a Holy God on Judgment Day and he is going to judge us based on His Holy Law, the Ten Commandments. These are just 4 of them and how did you do? Guilty? I have broken all of these and more, what about you? How well will you do on Judgment Day?
If we break just one point of God's Law we are guilty of breaking all the law and Gods Wrath abides upon us all. Based on God's Law we are all guilty and all are deserving of punishment. But there is an out for us.
Jesus paid the price for each one of us, took on himself God's Wrath so we wouldn't have to face it on our own. Jesus was beaten, battered, bleed and died so we wouldn't have to face God's Wrath. He rose again so that we would life in his presence. Our crimes, His payment.
The real question is where will you stand on Judgment Day. Pay yourself or have it paid for you. Think about it.
