mix few drops of lemon with equal amount of glycerin and using cotton rub it over the tanned area and after 10-15 minutes wash with water, another method is that you can use besan(gram flour)mixed with water or gulab jal(rose water)to rub the tanned area and then wash, within a week tanning will go away, these methods have been tried and are successful.

Stay away from direct afternoon sun's rays.Morning direct-sun does less harm.
Wear sunshades or a hat.
Use cream from milk as a facial cream. Wash off after fifteen minutes with warm water.
Drink plenty of coconut water.

Leave it alone. It fades away as the melatonin(sunblocking agents your body naturally produces to go in the skin.) falls away(layer by layer). All natural. Just keep the forehead out of the sun

Time is the best method but you can also try exfoliating the skin to get rid of dead skin cells and applying sunscreen 30-40 spf(anything higher is just lotion) to protect your skin from sun damage.
