Esentially I'm repainting a patio set. The paint on the old set is in decent condition for it's 10 yo age. It is a black set. The black paint was flaking in some areas therefore I used a wire brush on my drill and removed the rust and flaky paint. I also scratched up the paint a lot so that there is no gloss. Is it necessary that I use a primer regardless? I'm using rust-oleum spray paint.

Primer is truthfully used to fill any imprection that are in the paint. Primering demands sanding until now and after that's applyed. yet a primer isn't continuously required in maximum circumstances. Primers are used to cover bare steel and physique fillers. yet a primer sealer is stated. There are differnt colorations of sealers or maybe a sparkling one is made. and relies upon on the colour you're portray the vehicle. i'm hoping this helps you..

Sherwin Williams makes a direct to metal paint. I can't for the life of me think of what it's called, but just give them a call and they can help you.
