I was gonna get regular spaghetti, but thought I'd ask if there were other decent alternatives...thanks for your opinions!

Really your favorite pasta will be just fine. Spaghetti is a classic for a reason, but rigatoni or penne would be great too. The nice thing about penne is that it is hollow, so some of the sauce can get inside the quilles too!

You need penne. It is a hollow, thick tube (good for hearty sauces) and holds the meat nicely. Of course, I also like a good cheese ravioli. What could be better than to bite into a bit of cheese covered in a rich meat/tomato sauce? Remember to cook until al dente and shave some fresh parmesan on top with a bit of Italian parsley for garnish. Even if your cooking for yourself, you deserve a nice garnish; I'm just sayin'. Your Mamma would do the same.

My favorites are the tube style pastas like penne, ziti, or rigatoni.

In my mind the pasta is just a vehicle to get as much sauce per bite as possible. Of course, whatever knocks your hair back is the best.

Rigatoni, Penne, Fussili, Medium Shells, anything with nooks and crannies to hold the sauce on the pasta will work well with meat sauce

I know that regular spaghetti is good. But why do you think that pasta that is curly tastes so good for salad? The curls hold the sauce on the noodle.I like to use shells or curly noodles for a home made sauce...Thanks for asking......

I prefer capellini or angel hair w/meat sauce. I don't know why but it's my fave. But I know there are "rules" for matching pasta and sauce and found this website http://www.taunton.com/finecooking/pages/c00097.asp
Apparently I was wrong. But anyway, go with what YOU like or follow the advice of the pros.

I like rigatoni too , the sauce and meat just go in and out of the tube .

Usually heartier sauces call for pastas w/ texture, to help hold it all together. So think textures like:

penne
rigatoni
ziti
farfalle (bowtie)
the baby lasagna that's about 3/4" wide
