If we could refrain from saying "the bible", "case for christ", etc. I have read them. And yes, I am still an atheist. I am mainly talking about fiction here as well. I read( or study/ research) different philosophy books all the time. I have read machiavelli, nietzche. locke, socrates, and many more.

I have read all the Dan Brown books. I am also a big fan of James Rollins, but am running out of his books to read. His books follow along the same lines as Dan Brown with "secret societies, riddles, codes, etc.". I enjoy these types of books a great deal.

Just wondered what people were reading out there.

Interesting answer. So I should stop reading? Wow, and here I am trying to encourage my children to read. What was I thinking?

Hi there
I've just finished The God Delusion by Dawkins, I'd recommend that although it's not fiction, but it still has some interesting facts in even for the athiests like ourselves.

For books along the lines of 'secret societies, riddles, codes' and such I'd go for Foucault's Pendulum by Umberto Eco, it was written way before the Da Vinci Code and would tie many of your interests together.

I've enjoyed the Marek Halter caanan trilogy, three books. Sarah, Zipporah, and Lilah.

Also the Red Tent, by Anita Damiant. Good Biblical Fiction, without an evangelical message.

"The Origins of the British: A Genetic Detective Story - The Surprising Roots of the English, Irish, Scottish and Welsh"

By Stephen Oppenheimer

In this book Oppenheimer shows how he takes genetic evidence along with linguistics, archeology and written history to find the progenitors of the peoples of the UK.

I read mostly non-fiction but for fiction I like most things in the sci-fi/fantasy genre.

I've read most of the same things as you. I've just about anything that has to do with any type of religion, or theology for that matter.

For fiction though I'm a big fan of Jean Auel.

I love Dan Brown as well...and mysteries of any sort. I recently read Mein Kampf. Not too much on sci-fi though.

Ever read anything by Umberto Eco?
If not, you might try Foucault's Pendulum or The Name of the Rose.
