The fact that there is strife within and among the churches MAY be one of the signs of the end times.
The folks at Family Radio believe the Final Judgment and Second Coming of Christ will be in the fall of 2011.
For example see the book “Time Has an End” on line at:
http://www.timehasanend.org/public/en_time_has_an_end_cont.html
This group, whose primary teacher is one Harold Camping, also believes the Church Age has ended in 1988 and believers are to come out of the churches as they are now under the control of malevolent forces now that the Tribulation has begun. According to this group, this is why there is so much strife between and within church groups.
See the book Time Has an End, Ch. 10:
http://www.timehasanend.org/public/en_time_has_an_end_ch10.html
That said, the online audio lectures at Family Radio, are illuminating and worth a listen:
See: http://worldwide.familyradio.org/zusa/english/connect/audio_archive/echoes/frame/download/download.html
Finally, for the offline version of the Family Radio nightly call in show, where folks ask questions about the bible to Mr. Camping, see:
http://worldwide.familyradio.org/zusa/english/connect/audio_archive/forum/frame/
I am not endorsing Family Radio’s doctrines, but one is able to learn quite a bit by listening to these materials.
Most of what you will read about the end times are pre-millennial views: the view that Christ's return will usher in a future millennium of Messianic rule mentioned in the book of Revelation before the final judgment. The believers of this doctrine also hold to the notion of a Rapture of the righteous beforehand.
Others hold that there will be only one second coming of Christ, at the time of the Final Judgment.
Then there are mixtures involving the views of the seven year tribulation and whether it is happening now, will happen later, etc.
These doctrines all fall under the general heading known as the study of end times, or eschatology.
For explanations of the various eschatological beliefs see: http://www.religioustolerance.org/millenni.htm

I don't think the Mayan religion is popular enough for people to make a big fuss over 2012.
However, the estate tax is temporarily repealed in 2011, so maybe more people will try to die then, so that their survivors don't have to pay taxes. They should have timed the repeal with the possible end of the world in 2012. That way, it could benefit more people.

Nothing different is going to happen. I mean we already have Earthquakes, Tornadoes, Sickness, Aids, Wars and tons of other bad things too numerous to mention. The only thing I know for sure is I will be 5-years older in 2012.
However, it wouldn't surprise me if Al Gore and his Demo-bumbo buddies are behind this too. Need them tax-dollars!

Oh, yes. And long before. There's nothing we like more than the end of the world. It makes our little lives seem so important to think that it will all end with us.

I think we'll see a lot more wacko radio shows, tabloids will sell like hotcakes (do hotcakes really sell that well?), and some people will be a little "jumpy".

Earthquake take place because of the fact of moving tectonic plates...?? duh, **** occurs because of the fact one eats issues, and then **** it out. Please, this individual is frightened approximately 2012, no longer inquiring for a lecture on plate tectonics... the reason it ought to look to you that earthquakes are going on extra frequently must be as a results of extra suitable availability and immediacy of the media, in different words it sort of sounds like extra earthquake is going on because of the fact extra earthquakes are being mentioned, you hear approximately it extra, mutually as earthquakes like that or worse have in all probability handed off for the period of the final, yet with much less media exposure, much less people comprehend approximately it. even in spite of the shown fact that the quantity of earthquakes going on for the duration of history have not extremely replaced. additionally the human concepts is stable at making institutions and perceiving some thing as extra in all probability than they are actual, as an occasion people who've seen photos of plane injuries refuse to journey in planes, yet proceed to stress automobiles that's plenty extra probable to get them killed than vacationing by airliners in all probability ever will. photos of earthquakes scare you, so your concepts makes you think of it is extra probable to take place to you, sort of as a survival mechanism, despite if it does not journey fact. If there's a rfile on how there are much less hurricanes going on at present than some thousand years in the past, you does not supply a ****, because of the fact giving a **** approximately it won't make you extra probable to stay to tell the tale. So do no longer problem approximately it too plenty, except you're loopy like me and actually choose it to take place for the thrill and thrill of all of it. yet regrettably the possibility of the so called 2012 prophecies quite coming actual is notably narrow. i does not rule it out in spite of the shown fact that, yet i might say that OJ Simpson is extra probable to be harmless than the Earthquakes being with regards to 2012 prophecies... yet whilst it does not take place by some reason, then stable good fortune to ya.

Marie,
People have been making predictions for centuries about the END of this WORLD. GOD told us that only HE knows when that time will come. We certainly do not need to be worried about it. Just read, study, and obey HIS WORD and you will be safe from any worries that you may have. Remember the concern over the year "2000"? Everyone was all worked up over it and NOTHING HAPPENED. GOD will take care of those who are HIS CHILDREN. Are you a child of GOD? Now is a great time to take care of that.
To become a real Christian, we are told that we must HEAR the WORD in John 6:45, Jesus said, “It is written in the prophets, And they shall all be taught by God. Therefore everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me.” We are also told so in Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. We are told the we must BELIEVE in Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. We are also told so in Mark 16:16, Jesus said “He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.” and in John 5:24 "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. We are told that we must REPENT (or turn from sin) in Luke 13:3 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. Also in Acts 17:30 Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent. We are told to CONFESS CHRIST in Romans 10:9-10 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. We are also told in 1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. We are to be BAPTIZED according to Acts 2:38 Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” and Mark 16:16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. We are to CONTINUE to be FAITHFUL UNTIL DEATH according to Revelation 2:10c Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life. We also know that Paul wrote in Romans 14:12 each of us shall give account of himself to God. It is important that we not ignore what is written, change what is written, or add to what is written in the New Testament which is our Christian Guide. Have a great day and a wonderful week!
