The onset of symptoms is seven to 21 days after exposure. The disease is most contagious a day before the rash appears and up to seven days after, or until the rash forms scabs.
With your child being so young the only thing the Dr. may suggest is oatmeal baths and calamine lotion to reduce itching, and Tylenol to keep the baby comfortable.

There is nothing the doc can do for her. Be sure to call her doc though and update him so he makes a note of her having had chicken pox on her chart. How long they last varies. Once you don't see any more pox coming out she is pretty well done with them and they will start scabing over. Do not take her out in public while the sores are active though as you don't want her to accidently spread it to someone else who never got the vaccine or never had the chicken pox.

That sounds much too young to be having chicken pox, plus it's normal now to get vaccinated for that. I would take your baby to the doctor, they will advise you on the best treatment. I am afraid it might not even be chicken pox, more than likely it might be a severe allergic reaction to something.

I'm not sure about a child that young. I would just call the doctor's office and ask if you need to go in.

Your doctor may prescribe an antiviral to shorten the duration of symptoms. Call the office and ask them if he/she would want to see your child.

The disease may lead to complications in such a young infant. It is better to get treated with an anti- viral drug, acyclovir.
