psychiatry is def a science. This shows to be true especially when I go to psychiatrist. In psychiatry they are concerned with how the body works in accordance with the brain. They are concerned with chemical reactions of certain meds and they rely on this to learn more about the brain. Psychologists and social workers are more concerned with how the person interacts socially and overall well being and they try and help that person adjust and develop coping skills. One might think psychiatry is a cult or religion but what most forget is that the brain is the last frontier. We dont know a lot about it and much can be put into question. Science started out the same way and we tend to forget that sometimes.

This video is heavily one sided... the statement made by those interviewed are not based on fact, but opinion. For example, psychiatrists don't get together and vote on an illness by saying "aye"... illnesses surface based on extensive research by psychologists, psychiatrists, neurologists and other other health care professional. Also, there is no diagnosis, for example, for someone who argues with their mother, or for the other symptoms described.
Basically, if you're going to attack a profession, bring forth credible evidence and not opinion and conjecture.
The essence of a debate is logic and good science... these were absent in the videos. You need to be careful with how you present information.
In other questions you've asked and answered, you've told people who suffer to ditch treatment b/c the mental health profession is fake-- your position is very dangerous and could cause others great harm. You and others like you have told patients with bipolar disorder, schizophrenia or major depressive disorder with suicidal tendencies, to stop taking their meds (despite that fact that the meds keep them alive) when they asked a sincere questions and were concerned.
The question is-- do you care if your advice results in someone committing suicide or self cutting, or being readmitted to a hopsital b/c they tried to kill their spouse or children due to the illness and voices? If you had one bad experience, don't condemn the lot of us or the entire rpofession!

Psychiatry is a Medical science, one that has been proven and very effective to millions around the world. Imagine if we were still torturing and putting to death people with Epilepsy,or Bipolar disorders ,because they were possessed by the devil .As recently as the 1940's they were performing Lobotomies on the mentally ill,so we have come a very long way, thanks to the breakthrough's in medication. I knew that, but thanks for posting it...
The only regular people (Not physicians.) who are aware of this... are ICD-9 coders.
Most of these codes are total bull-crap... Some are legitimate diseases. But the number of legitimate diseases are so small in number... They have to create 50,000.00 more to be able to make the business profitable. and unfortunately IN order for them to be profitable... people actually have to HAVE these symptoms... Some are inherent but most are created out of convenience and a need to medicate....
Nice to see someone else who knows the truth.
It is not a hoax... Psychiatry is a legitimate science... Just conducted through a greed based, screw ball system, that is led and conducted by big business and Pharmaceutical companies.
The only legitimate psychiatrists are Non Profit psychiatrists. Those who are willing to help anyway... less the millions of dollars a year they would be making if they were in private practice telling Mrs Richchild how she is depressed because her face lift didn't take.... and she needs a little something to get her through the day.
Remember, Even The great Sigmund Freud...
was basically a coke head with a brain and too much time on his hands!

Its a cult that's turned into a religion but masquerading as a science. It started out with a bunch of intellectuals who had nothing better to do speculating whether kids are in love with their parents and eventually giving patients electric shocks. In time it became fashionable and people took half its bullshit for fact and eventually it became a moral code book on how to live, replacing the Bible. It calls itself a science but in my view its really the equivalent of animal experimentation.
