The COT is a new car that has a wing or spoiler on the backside and an adjustable splitter on the front that can be raised up or down to help the handling of the car. There will be a minimum height though and the rear spoiler will have certain rules pertaining to it as well. Another thing about the car of tomorrow is that the sides are more reinforced, and they are spending more money this year by modifying and building both cars but in the end the COT is suppossed to help lower production costs for the cars in general and save the owners money. Another thing is that the new car will help the driver stay safe in the car in case of a really bad accident and will be safer for the driver in the long run. Also the car is actually suppossed to go faster and have better racing but then again alot of the drivers and fans dont like it as it doesnt look very much like a stock car it looks like something foreign which is not what NASCAR is all about its about American made cars usually.

I hope this helps you out :
On January 12, 2006, NASCAR announced a universal car named "Car of Tomorrow" after a five-year design program sparked mostly due to the death of Dale Earnhardt, one of the sport's premier superstars in a tragic final lap crash during the 2001 Daytona 500. [1] The then-current cars were based on Holman Moody's 1966 Ford Fairlane. [2] The primary design considerations were "safety innovations, performance and competition, and cost efficiency for teams." [3]
All cars may be required to fit the same set of templates. NASCAR's old rules had a different set of templates for each manufacturer (Ford, Chevy, Dodge, and Toyota). NASCAR has frequently adjusted the rules to ensure that different car manufacturers have relatively equal cars. The universal body of the Car of Tomorrow will eliminate these problems.
The car has improved handling and reduced dependence on aerodynamics. The car will feature a detachable wing, which has not been used since the Dodge Charger Daytona and Plymouth Superbird in the 1970s. [4] The windshield is more upright, which increases drag. The air intake is below the front bumper of the car, which eliminates overheating caused by clogged grills. The front bumper is more box-like, which catches more air and creates more downforce, while also slowing the car.
The Car of Tomorrow has improved safety features over the current car. [1] The driver's seat has been moved four inches to the right, the roll cage has been shifted three inches to the rear, and the car is two inches taller and four inches wider. [1] More "crush-ability" is built into the car on both sides, ensuring even more protection. The car's exhaust runs through the body, and exits on the right side, which diverts heat away from the driver. [1] The fuel cell is stronger, and has a smaller capacity (17¾ gallons, down from 22 gallons, which as of 2007 has become standard in all cars).

The short answer: The car of tomorrow is supposed to cut down costs for the owners and make the drivers safer. You won't see super speedway, short track and intermediate cars anymore, just the COT. There is adjusability at different areas of the COT but it will be much more uniform as far as the different makes of cars. They are running them at Bristol because it is a short track that does not depend much on aerodynamics. All the COT races this year are short tracks or road courses. They want to start getting some data on it and are already talking about totally switching to it for ALL of next year.

It's a car that nascar has invented all on their own. It will look nothing like your Ford, Chev or Dodge. It is supposed to be for safety reasons. Won't be long that the France family will ruin the sport. They already chage rules so many time you can't keep up with them.

truthfully, i think of faster or later in time sooner or later, in keeping with risk no longer in our lifetime, that suicide won't purely be criminal yet at times inspired. Our lifespans are increasing and sooner or later will start to boost exponentailly. by way of fact the older inhabitants and boost of inhabitants would make our aspects stretched too skinny. Older human beings would discover themselves a nasty burden on their relatives and society normally. consequently suicide would become suited as a ability to stability the inhabitants and the financial equipment. Even now we are dealing with a depletion of the Social Secruity equipment and is probably no longer sustainable in 40-50 years. In Japan a era in the past it became suited for a relatives to accompany an elder to a mountain to allow themselves to starve to dying while an elder felt that they have got been a burden. that's becoming to be much less suited by way of fact of yank impact, yet continues to be praciticed by using some families as we talk. that's self-rightousness by using some who impose it on others, in many circumstances against the different's desires. certainly if i became no longer able to self-sufficiency, being hooked as much as a existence-help gadget or 24 hour nursing information or excrutiating continual discomfort, i'd prefer to think of I had the alternative of suicide. ~jaz~

From what I heard, its going to make its designed to make the drivers safe, and when Nascar races the car at Michigan and California and all of the other flatter races, from what nascar says from the COT tests last year at Michigan, theres
going to be a lot more side-by-side racing.

from my understanding its a new body style which they arechanging each of the cars to, they are going away from the body style they have now with curves and going into a more boxy older body style also they have spoiler wings on the back of them, I hear many drivers say they dont like them, and I have no idea why they are going to this change except that they want something new???

Well, in general, the "Car of Tomorrow" is a marketing phrase usually used to describe concept cars and other cutting edge designs. So, I would presume that this event at Bristol you refer to is some sort of showcase for new design concepts.
