I'm 18 years old. I have lived in Athens, Greece with my family for 11 years and now my family wants to move back to Chicago. Me and my boyfriend are madly in love with each other, all my friends are here and I'm have no idea what Chicago is like. I want to stay here but my family say I'll never be able to make it because rent is a bit expensive (about 500$ a month for tiny apartment) and people rarely give students jobs. What should I do? Ask to live with some friend or distant relative?

Your boyfriends family should be able to look after you...you dont need to go if you are 18.

You are the only one who can answer this. What is meant to be will always find a way to be.
Relax if it is real it will grow and become stronger.
Can your boyfriend come and visit Chicago and see how he likes it. Every city has the good and the bad. Some of the best shopping in the world is in Chicago. OHHHH the malls and great food. The lake. The diffrent cultures. Oh gurl friend you will be missing so much fun!!!!!!!!
I am almost 50.lol Here is my motto in life and it has served me well! Not guts no glory! What is meant to be will find a way to be. Time tells all. Practice random acts of kindness and senseless acts of beauty. Practice boundaries.
Read loving smart by dr. Phil and boundaries in dating by John Macloud!!!! God bless!! use widom!
If you get a good education you can get a good job any where.
If you quit school to be with him you will be sorry.
Nothing kills a good romance like povety.
Visist each other . Time will tell if it is real.
You are very young and have a lot of growing to do.
We all did at 18 dear.
Never be afraid of an adventure. Very little in life stays the same. Change is scary. Do it afraid!lol
What about him making sacrafices to be with you.
He can go to school and live in Chicago easier than a single 18 old in Greece. Most Greek men I know are very family oriented. You guys can visit back and forth, You got a computer. There is a internet.

Family comes first, boyfriends come and go. I'm sorry to say that especially since you say you are madly in love. I understand that, really I do. But things don't always work out the way you imagine. If you were to stay in Greece your future at best is an uncertain financially, educationally, living arrangement are undetermined and family won't be immediately available for support. You can't live on love alone. You will need money and the physical closeness and emotional support that only your family can provide. I'm sorry to be this way, it's a hard choice and you need practical advice which is nearly impossible to listen to when your heart is in the way. So, take it or leave it.

go with your family.

family should always come first.

what will you do if this arrangement with your boyfriend does not work out is to cause your family extra money.

they will always love you no matter what your do...so your if your boyfriend really loves you. Then give Chicago a chance and if it really is not your lifestyle or you chose your homeland over the USA you can always go back.

If you give up this opportunity that your family offers you. Then you will always wonder how your life would have been different in another country...love is blind and don't be blind for a opportunity to have a better life.

I have been to Chicago a lot and I know of all the cities in the United States...Chicago has much to offer everybody...it is a very educational and cultural city...I know you love your boyfriend madly but do both of yourself a favor and give your relationship the test of time. If it is true love then both of you will still love each other after a time apart.

I have been in relationships that I thought I was madly in love and found out later that this was not true love...and then it was too late and soon love can turn to hate ...overnight..but you do as you please as no one is your boss...not even your boyfriend

Follow your heart. You have your own mind to do with whichever you please. Theres many things to be considered on this type of thing. If it would be possible for you to live adequetly where you are now with the help of friends and family... IF you believe you truly love him and vice versa without doubt, and will do so Forever, then stay, but if not, Stay with your parents. Schooling is very important nowdays and your parents would definately be there for you to get the best of education... Rent is expensive no matter where you are unless you're financially secure. Good luck...
