i recently upgraded my Dell laptop to Vista, theres been a few compatibility problems and now i want to go back to XP, would a system restore or even factory restore fix this? If not, how would i go about un-intsaling Vista?

I didnt recieve any XP instalation disks with it, and i dont intend to buy any.

Cheers for any help,
Vince xx

Only a few problems?
Wow! you were lucky.
In order to get XP back you will need to do a complete format and installation of XP using your XP installation CD.
If you have a Restore disk that came with your laptop then you can use that because it will over right and restore the entire partition.

Didn't you make a cd or dvd copy of your system before you loaded vista. Its usually the first thing the pc tells you to do when you buy it new.

The best thing that you can do is ring dell and tell them your problem. They will send you a recovery disc but they will charge you for it.

IF ANYONE ELSE OUT THERE READS THIS AND BUYS A NEW PC OR LAPTOP FOR F**ks SAKE BUY YOURSELF SOME BLANK DVD'S AND MAKE A RECOVERY DISC COS IF IN 13 MONTHS TIME WHEN YOUR HARD DRIVE FAILS JUST OUT OF WARRANTY, HOW YOU GOING TO RELOAD WINDOWS ON YOUR NEW DRIVE.

I have a Dell Desktop which didnt come with a disc, but has the facility to make one. This is a once only operation. Perhaps you have the same. Might be worth checking

A system restore will not do this. A factory restore will roll your computer back to what it originally had. I would recommend backing up all of your important data first so you dont loose any of your files! Hope this helps...
