It depends on how well they are doing at school. I always ask what I can do to help my kids at home.

i have just been to my sons first parents evening and was slightly disappointed at how quickly they go, my sons lasted a total of 10minutes and only because i wouldnt move until i had asked all the questions i felt needed answering.
i asked
how my son was settling into school routine
what his behaviour was like
how he was social interacting with other children
where he should be capability wise and whether he was falling behind or not
if there was anything that he needed to work on at home
is there anything that concerns her about my son
how were his communication skills
you should just ask her about anything that concerns you in regards to your children.

The best thing to ask is if there is anything you can do at home to ensure that things are better at school. For example; extra homework, flashcards, reading. The teacher needs to know that you support her and will do whatever you can to help make her job of teaching your children better.

How about the usual stuff. i.e. How are your children performing in class? How can they improve? What are their strengthes and weaknesses? How you can play a more active role in their learning?

You can ask: how is my child doing? What is a typical day for them? Do they have any particular difficulties they should be working on?

Golly, if you are going to communicate like that you'll have trouble.
Ask about their social skills, behaviour, areas for concern, areas that they are good in, anything you can do to help at home, do they seem happy?
