We are from the US, and for my honeymoon I'm flying from London to Edinburgh.

From London, which is the shortest/easiest jorney - Luton, Stansted, or Gatwick?

Cheers,

ps we don't have a place to stay in London yet, so not sure where I would be coming from. Lets assume from the centre of London.

Gatwick is direct from the West End (and it's NOT on the tube - it's on the mainline train network!). Takes about half an hour.

Luton is about the same distance but involves a short bus transfer from the railway station to the airport.

Stansted is further from London and you would leave from the City (east). Takes about 45 minutes, and the train takes you right under the terminal at Stansted.

Price is similar for each. Personally I'd go for Gatwick first, Stansted second.

But as an alternative, try taking the train instead. It takes 4.5 hours door-to-door (direct, city centre to city centre) and goes past some great scenery. Price can be cheap if you book in advance. Dining car food is great. Taking into account check-in time, flying time, and travel to/from the airport, the train is often quicker.

All are fairly easy to reach from central London. I would suggest Luton or Stansted however. gatwick is an extremelly busy airport and not as close as the others. Luton takes 25 minutes from Kings X station, Stansted takes 30 from Liverpool St station and Gatwick takes 35 mins from Victoria station.

Enjoy your trip

Depends where you are staying.
Gatwick is most convenient from Central London because there's an express train from Victoria.
If you stay near city Stansted because you can take Stansted Express from Liverpool Street Station.
You'd better buy return trip tickets because the difference in price is only about £1 even if you buy a single ticket.

Not sure about Luton. National Express might run an airport shuttle.

if u havnt already booked your flight then do so 1st as getting 2 an airport once in england is pretty easy. you can get the eurostar train from central london to either gatwick or stansted. if i had a choice i would give luton a wide birth as althought its now called london luton it is a very long way from london. as for the shortest journey they will all be about the same. congrats on the marraige and happy visiting

Actually if ure departing from London centre itself, all 3 airports are rather far from each other. So i guess it wudnt make much different which airport u choose to depart from. What u can do is when u book ur hotel, perhaps ask them which airport wud be nearest for u to go to.From what i remember Stansted wud be the closest airport to Edinburgh. But all the airports are equally the same distance from central London. All 3 airports are accessable via buses & trains.Good Luck!

Gatwick. I'd use Stansted as second option. Have a nice stay.
