I think, for the most part, they're too busy fighting amongst one another to care....

I doubt it. When they were colonies local power was in the hands of dictators and royal families (still is). It was not humiliating at the time I am guessing because the average Arab had no more power of their own destiny then they do now, though during colonial rule you did not have sectarian violence as you do today. Arab countries have vast wealth, then and now. It has never gotten to the benefit of the people, then or now. If it is seen as humiliating now it is simply somethign used to stir up nationalism and convince people that they are in danger from abroad when in fact they are in danger from within much more.

Probably...which would explain why the arabs are invading britain and france today...giving them a taste of their own medicine.
