Get a humidifier and keep it running all the time in your home. You don't need to put it just in his bedroom, but do put it in a central area.
Also, have him drink more fluids each day.
And do NOT put any cream, vasalien or gunk in his nose.

Don't use a humidifier until you know the humidy level in your home. Get a humidity gage. Barometers usually have humidity gage and thermometer both. Humidity levels over 45% can cause mold growth. I get nose bleeds, too, and chapped skin, but it is from the cold dry windy air outside, not my house. Treat it topically, and make sure he is drinking enough liquids - he may be dehydrated slightly. Don't use vasoline - it is a petroleum byproduct. Go to the pharmacy and get 2 things - saline nose spray and saline nasal gel. Ayr gel is a popular one. Both work great. I use the spray several times a day, and I use the gel at night. Also - some medications can cause mucous membranes to dry out. Does he take any antihistimines? If he is on anything, ask the doc if this is a possible side effect, and if so can the med be changed or dose adjusted? Hope this helps. Good luck!

Dry air often is the cause of nosebleeds. If you use Ocean Mist Saline Spray in the nostrils three or four times a day, it will stop the nosebleeds. WalMart makes an Equate brand saline nasal spray that is the same thing. If that doesn't stop the nosebleeds, see the doctor.

Air conditioning works by taking the humidity out of the air, so the air becomes drier, kind of like in winter. This could actually be causing the nosebleeds. Can he get by without it?I would try and see what happens. Otherwise, see a doctor.

The lack of humidity and high altitudes are generally good causes for nosebleeds. By running the air, you are actually removing humidity, thus aggravating the problem. Stop the air and instead add a humidifer.

Be sure you use a humidifier in your home and in his bedroom at night. Also use vaseline aka petroleum jelly rubbed in his nostrils several times a day to keep them moist and lubricated. Since he has frequent nosebleeds you do need to take him to the doc for a check up and tell the doc about this as it could also be a sign of a medical problem.

have him sit up and lean forward to prevent blood from draining into his throat. pinch nostrils together to maintain pressure on the flow. apply a cool, wet cloth to his nose and face. If bleeding continues and is severe call for help

make sure your humidifier is on or buy him his own humidifier and put it in his room. They're not that expensive.
