You need to bring a lot of things to California but here are some major things to bring: 1. For sure bring a bathing suit and beach things because you'll probably spend a lot of time there. 2. Your clothes and everyday necessities 3. Sunglasses, sunscreen, hats and other things to protect you from the sun because it's very hot there. 4. Money, if you can because they have AMAZING stores and shopping centers. 5. Walking shoes because if you don't have a car then you'll be doing a lot of that lol (: You can also, take a lot of other things but these mainly. Hope I helped :DDDDD Have fun on your Trip !

Bring bathing suit, sunscreen, tennis shoes, casual clothes and maybe one dressy outfit for a nice dinner. Also bring a jacket because it can get cool at night.

(If you're going to Lake Tahoe, there's snow so bring winter clothes totally, and a bathing suit for the hotel jacuzzi.)

Be sure to visit some of California's wonderful wineries. Wineries are located throughout California. Discover some great new wines at winery tasting rooms. Many often free wine tasting. For more details go to: http://www.cheers2wine.com

California is a very big state, and you didn't specify where in California you are going.. Northern and Southern California are like two totally different places, but both share something in common. Both are crowded and expensive so bring lots of money with you. Neither Los Angeles nor San Francisco is actually like the images you get of them from television and the movies just as your home in Miami is probably different that what we see of it on T. V. In either case there is lots to see and do in both cities so enjoy your visit and "Welcome to California".

If I were you, I will go to LA
1st day Disneyland
2nd day Beach (Huntington beach/St Monica/St Barbara)
3rd Universal Studio
4th-5th San Diego, Seaworld or Lego city or LaJolla Zoo

What to bring?
in winter bring your jacket of course. In summer, short pants and tank top, dont forget sunscreen.

It's a pretty big state to see things in just 5 days. BUT, if you're driving from top to bottom, I'd fly to San Francisco, rent a car, drive two hours to Napa Valley (and on the way go across the golden gate bridge), drive IN to San Francisco (really, not that hard depending on the day), go to the Fisherman's wharf (from there, you can see the trolley cars and the homes hilly streets-what they're known for), drive down about 3 hoursish to Santa Barbara for an expensive beach town, drive two more hoursish down the Pacific Coast Highway (on the coast!), down towards Malibu (just drive through if you want-but the beaches are cool and less populated than Santa Monica and Venice), see Hollywood (although it's dirty and kind of tiresome but if you're in Los Angeles, you probably should see the stars on the sidewalk and Mann's Chinese Theatre just because, although in my opinion, it's not worth it if you're tight with time), drive through Beverly Hills on Wilshire Blvd, do some expensive shopping on Rodeo Drive, shop some more in Santa Monica on 3rd street promenade (on the beach), drive down the PCH more and hit Venice Beach, about a half hour away (depending on traffic), eat at Titos Tacos (best Tacos EVER) on Washington Place & Sepulveda Blvd in Culver City area. Drive down another hour to get to Disneyland in the O.C. (there's a cute shopping district outside of Disneyland if you don't want to actually go IN to Disneyland). Then, I'd drive down another hour and a half or so to San Diego and, if you have time and you're not totally exhausted yet, I'd even go across the border to Tijuana for some good old dirty fun (seriously-it's an experience). La Jolla beach in San Diego is nice-lots of college aged people, the waves are a bit bigger, and the beach seems a bit cleaner than Santa Monica or Venice. Fly out of San Diego to save you the trouble of driving all the way back up again!

What to bring? It gets COLD at night. If you're used to cold weather (I moved from Pittsburgh to Los Angeles in the middle of winter and I was fine in tshirts and jeans for the first month or so... then I bought a winter coat and scarf), it may not affect you as much but if you're used to warmer weather you'll wish you brought a jacket and some pants! I would get a tourist guide (Lonely Planet has AWESOME guides and they usually have day trips and walking trips all planned out for you... oh, and definitely a map. The Thomas Guide is a spectacularly detailed map for Southern California. Just remember, if you hit water, you're going West.

It really depends on what you like to do as to what type of clothes you should wear. I'm more of a pub/beach girl. Casual pants/skirts/tshirts/and flip flops are pretty much widely accepted everywhere I frequented. I worked in Beverly Hills and everyone in my office wore pretty much jeans and tshirts and flip flops. BUT there are definitely places that you'll feel out of place in in flips and tshirts... so just bring some nice shoes and jackets to dress up everything else.

I depends on where in California you are going. The weather is a bit different in San Fransico than in Palm Springs. So i would suggest you bring five different outfits representing five different weather conditions. Desert, mountain, rain, snow beach, and warm spring weather.

can you narrow down what part of cali you are heading to?

if we can assume it's LA, as that is where you've posted, then see Paris' list sure to follow.

the one thing you need to bring? lots of money.

It depends on whether you are going for the cities or the beaches, but the coastal highways and beaches are fantastic.
