Nuts are the best (plant source) of protein. They are also high in fiber, phytonutrients and antioxidants such as Vitamin E and selenium, and "good" fats (monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats - omega 3) that help lower LDL cholesterol.

If you want a replacement for nuts - find foods that deliever the same goods - which will not be easy, especially all that in one tasty snack. I cant think of anything other than sunflower seeds, which I switch between with peanuts.

Why replace nuts? They are good for you. The fat in them is healthy fat. Just eat them in moderation, like everything else.
