One of my teeth is occasionally blooding, sometimes even when I am touching them lightly with tounge. However, there's no obvious pain from it and it had not caught problems before.

Anything I can do to stop this? Does it work washing mouth with salt water?

Thnx.

If you are having problems with bleeding then something is wrong that needs to be checked out by the dentist. There is nothing you can do to stop it till you see the dentist to find out what is wrong.

What you're describing is gingivitis. This is caused by inadequate brushing, flossing and lack of professional cleanings. It’s not that you’re not brushing and flossing, it’s that it’s not being done correctly or on a daily basis. This is something that your dentist will be able to help you clear up with a deep cleaning and exam; it's also something that you need to take care of now rather than postpone. Gingivitis is an inflammation of the gum tissue caused by an accumulation of plaque, tartar and calculus that keeps the tissue irritated, inflamed and causes it to bleed easily. This is also the first stages of perio disease which progresses causing deep pockets to form, then bone loss, with the teeth becoming mobile and eventual tooth loss with out proper treatment. Right now you're in the beginning stages which can be treated with a cleaning and you increasing and perfecting your home care techniques of brushing and flossing along with continued care with your dentist so he can monitor and keep your dental health in check. Taking care of this now is imperative and will save you and your teeth years of pain and expense ( it only gets more costly as this disease progresses) that this disease will eventually cost you. Waiting and allowing this to progress into the different stages of perio disease will be detrimental to your teeth and your dental health. Catching this early is the best way to treat this and to stop its progression and maintain your teeth's integrity. I hope I’ve been of some help and that you will see your dentist soon. Good luck!

dental bleeding may have a number of causes, some simple, others serious. Gingivitis (inflamation of the gums) is the simplest to treat. It is treated with frequent brushing, dental floss, and occasionally, antibiotics. In its more advanced state, it requires surgery. Some drugs can cause dental bleeding. Dilantin, used to treat seizures is a major problem in this area. High dose aspirin can also cause problems.
Coumadin can cause dental bleeding. Serious illness, such as leukemia, can also present with bleeding gums. Your symptom is probably from a minor illness (statistically, this should be so) but you need to see a dentist knowledgable in the problem of bleeding or a physician to complete the diagnosis properly. You will probably need a blood test to sort this out. Ignoring this symptom may be hazardous to your long term well being. Treating the symptom without proper diagnosis may defer early diagnosis and proper treatment. See a professional as soon as you can.

You need to floss regularly. Use Listerine mouth wash and see a dentist. You have a bad case of gingivitis.
