Due to financial issues my fiance and I have had to cancel our reception and have decided to still keep the wedding at the church. We have planned a dinner for close friends and relatives after the ceremony at a nice resturaunt; I'm wondering now what do he and I do after that? go home? a hotel? we are taking our honeymoon 2 days after, we would like to have some free time to relax and get things together before we leave. Is there anything wrong with going home after? what did you or someone you know do. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks a lot :)

There's nothing wrong with going home after, especially if you are trying to save money and are going on your honeymoon!

If you can afford it, a bed & breakfast is a lovely way to spend an evening, but truthfully, there's nothing wrong with just going home - ESPECIALLY at the end of a long day!!

You can always ask a trusted friend to let him/herself into your house earlier and get a bottle of champagne on ice, take the phone off the hook, set some candles out around the house, turn on the jazz and sprinkle rose petals on the bed.

Cheesy? Maybe a little, but it would be nice to come home to something different & special!!

Once you get home, you can draw a nice hot bubble bath for the two of you to soak & relax while sipping on the bubbly, and just have a relaxing, romantic evening.

As an added bonus, think of the fun you could have re-creating this as an anniversary tradition!!

Many happy years to you both!

it is totally ok just to go home after the dinner. Save your money and spend it on your honeymoon. You can go to a hotel if you want otherwise you don't have to. Have a friend docorate your house for your with some flowers, bottle of champange chilling, and candles while you are at dinner. You can surprise hubby and still have a romantic evening together as man and wife.

Go home after dinner?
Nothing wrong with that.
That's exactly what we did! Very relaxed, too. The day will fill itself, don't cram it with things you have to do, or you'll be running from one event to the other, constantly looking at your watch.

Make sure the invitation is clear: Wedding in the church, afterwards we have dinner.
That should be enough to say to people that the party is over after the dinner.

DONT GO BACK HOME.....i agree with the bed and breakfest that would be something different to do and it romantic too, how romantic is home? you do the same things there everyday so dont go back home cuz youll end up watching tv or doing the laundry trying to get ready for the honemoon, so go somewhere romantic like the bead and breakfest. get a bottle of cheap wine or something, strawberries and chocolate and just enjoy your wedding night being in each others company then go to bed in somethings sexxy and enjoy the rest of the night.
