In most cases, as the difference between these two are slight. The juice of a lemon is a bid milder or less shape or astringent than that of a lime.

The answers you have received up to now are OK. Lime and lemon juice can be interchanged, but for guacamole, Thai curries and other dishes already mentioned, then lime is preferable.

I don't think it does eccept perhaps in a cheesecake or mousse.They are very different flavours.Lime juice has a destinct pepperiness which does not work in place of lemons.
