Do they even have a specific name or are they simply nameless? In addition, do they ultimately determine how your hand closes or are they merely the *result* of how your hand closes? For example, if you look at your hand with your palm facing you, and then close your hand into a fist, you will notice that your hand bends/folds in direct correlation to wherever the lines are on you hand. Is this because your hand has these creases in them or is it that just by the unique way your hand happens to close *caused* those creases?

Well, to Palm Readers (although I don't believe in this), they're called Life Line, Heart Line, Head Line, Fate Line, etc. See this link: http://www.psychic-junkie.com/inside-palm-reading.html

If they all have specific medical names, I don't know what they are.

Each line/crease has a different name. Life line, heart line, head line, success line etc. (Refer to any palm reading book.)

I don't think they're a result of how your hand closes because even new borns have lines, and how long have they been closing and unclosing their palms ^^;

It sounds logical as the way to put it, they also say, it's called your life line, there are people called hand readers, they say they can read your future in the lines, not so sure I trust that.
