I am going to have 3 step children when I get married and I would love to know what I can get them to make them feel special or that I am excited to have them as part of my family?

Make them part of the ceremony. Not just part of the parade - flower girl or junior usher or whatever - but after you and your fiancee have exchanged vows, have a similar exchange with the kids - that you promise to love them and take care of them, respect their need to grow up and at the same time to be there for them. They can write something similar in response, either one speaking for all or each saying his/her own. Your husband to be needs to be a part of both so that no one's feelings get hurt, the mother of the kids is not cut out - but making them part of the ceremony reflects that you are - in a sense - marrying them as well as marrying their father.

My minister is making the children apart of the wedding. He is going to have them come up and we are going to promise to be good parents to and always love and care for them to the best of our ability and then he is going to ask them to state their vows which consist of being the best children and behaving to the best of their ability and we all have to promise to do the best we can do to love and take care of one another. It is all part of our vows.....

For girls, a special piece of jewelery would be nice--birthstone or something. For boys, I really have no ideas, I'm sorry to say.

My friend has a ring made for her daughter in her wedding with her, her husband and the daughters birthstone (put it on a necklace) and they gave it to her in the ceremony during their ring exchange.
