Despite what you think, a lot of people don't hate jesus, they just hate the religious fanatics pushing their beliefs onto others, with threats of hell. Kind of ironic that they try and convert people and bad-mouth everyone who doesn't think the way or believe the same things they do, it's a form of judgement over your fellow man which is a sin in itself, so they will also be going to hell.
The bible says "Judge not, lest ye be judged" Or somewhere along those lines?
Another reason for this "hating" thing you say, everyone, no matter who you are, if something goes bad in your life, you will always find a scapegoat to blame your problems on. A lot of epole find blaming jesus is much easier than blaming themselevs for the situation they put themselves in.

why do some hate Christ just like the Bible times they didn't understand why a man would do what he did and still live three days after put to death for others sins. and young lady to hate is a sin....
not lots of laughs Christ meant business to take on all that hate and other sin of the world away. so learn to love one another as he said all God's commandments are important but the one he gave us to follow is love one another . not hate!

I believe that the Bible is myth and Jesus are a mortal but very charismatic man. I don't hate him. I do very much dislike what has happened to the world because of people's belief in him. I especially dislike what Paul did by changing the teachings of Christ to emphasize faith in Christ instead of doing good acts.

I personally dont know anyone who hates Jesus
infact I know some atheists who even respect his teachings
I as a spiritualist have a deep respect for him
as many have mentioned previously ... it is some of the followers that are the problem
edit
hopefully you and others will see from the replies , that it is only people " thinking " that Jesus is hated
those who are not Christian are quite clearly stating here that it is untrue

I don't hate Jesus, he didn't do anything to me. I just don't believe he was anything more than a man.
Comments like this one though are the reason alot of Christians get a bad name.
"Because they're ignorant and don't believe that He is our personal Lord and Savior, which means that they're going straight to hell after death, of course!"
I don't believe that he's our personal lord and savior, and I'm not ignorant. And how is threatening people with hell supposed to make them believe?

Because ,jesus, is not afraid to speak true. Because jesus will, tell you ,what you need to know. Not what you want to hear.
People are afraid of truth. Thats why they try to hide, when it is proven, that truth, comes out in the end.
People do not want to know, the truth. Because it hurts. And no one wants to deal with the pain, or be proven wrong. So they hide behind others,
People hide behind their own ,beliefs ,and says this is true, but this is not. Because they believe it to be so.

They hate him because he claimed to be the only way to salvation, "I am the way the truth and the life, no one comes to the father except through me." (jesus)
If we accept this we have to face the fact we have sins this means we may have to give up those sins. The darkness hates the light.

Atheists do not hate Jesus. Just don't believe in everything we are told about him and god.

I guess that is to teach us Christians that we too can be hated for believing in him... and we have and will as years go.
He says... remember friends, if the World hates you, remember that it has hated me also. The world hated me before it has hated you. Stay with me in my teachings and hold steadfast to your faith as you will one day reach the Kingdom of heaven. Live ye not for this life but for the Kingdom of heaven where you will reside forever and ever. No more suffering, no more tears.....

He's a good man who wanted nothing but to bring peace to people's lives, and died believing in peace. No problem with that. Its all these idiots running around slandering and twisting his name/teachings for profit, misdirection, politics, personal glory that have people so pissed.
