My 13 month old daughter has a horrible cold and her nose is now bleeding and cracked between her nostrils at the bottom. I feel so bad for her and I am using Puffs with lotion. I can't just not wipe her nose, but every time I do it gets worse, especially since she fights and pulls her head away from me. I have no lotion or antibiotic cream or vaseline but I do have some Lansinoh. Just wondering if it would work or if I should call someone to bring me something else (don't want to get her out being so sick).

I used Lansinoh for really dry skin and it was fine. Just use it sparingly so it's not thick and gets into her nose to keep her from breathing. I don't see a problem. That's what it's for--dry, cracked skin. I had a boss who used her sample as a chap stick.

Get some rest. It's tough on us moms when the little ones are sick.

I'd use an antibiotic ointment. Ask the pharmacist what the best type would be. I know some people are allergic to the antibiotic in Neosporin. The ointment will soothe the discomfort and the antibiotic will help prevent infection.

The high lanolin content could be a problem. You should probably get an antibiotic ointment labelled as suitable for use on children.
