HDTV format players?

Can i play video in HDTV format using vlc media player ?
If no then is there any media player which can play the video, or do i need to buy a seperate standalone player ?

i have intel 945GM Chipset will that be sufficient to play the file

to use HD, you need a nice Video card.

once you have that, make sure your desktop resolution is 1280x1024, because 1024x768 is NOT HD. REMEMBER: you need a good video card or your computer will operate slowly, if at all.
