Margarine is one step away from plastic, chemically speaking. It was invented in the WW2 era, initially to feed to chickens. When the chickens refused to touch it, they decided to use it for humans as a butter substitute. Butter is a natural food which has been eaten for millenia and provides vitamins and calcium. Margarine is pure grease (fat).

Modern day miracles like uncle john's miracle tonic of the 20's is all that margarine was. Intake of food should be based on activity requirements. Eating butter is preferable as is any all natural products do stay away from trans fats. Google trans fats if you want to know why. Daily consumption should equal the amount of calories burned. burn 2000 calories and intake 3000 you gain weight. Burn 2000 calories and intake 1000 calories and you loose weight.

Butter is better - no trans fats! It is natural not synthetic if you know what I mean. Take a look at the ingredients on back of tub of marg - there are so many. It is really better to eat neither but if you really must eat butter just don't eat too much of it!

Yes, butter is natural and tastes much better. If you are watching your health, it would be more beneficial to reduce the amount of butter you have in your diet rather than substitute it with margarine.
