As an OIF Veteran I hate to see the protestors. It does hurt the morale. Seeing the fight first han dI do know that we are doing the right thing. Being one of those people who could actually die in a foreign country and hleave my wife and family behind...I have counted the cost, but I know the greatness of freedom and know the importance of a stable Middle East. I hate that this country doesn;t have the stomach for anything hard anymore. Its a strong indicator for our laziness. We don;t know hard work any longer, we have become too dependant on hand outs. To me it is a horrible show of weakness. I could easily see our news stories, protests, and liberal congress being shown as terrorist propaganda in the middle east. A show of how weak America is and how they do not even back this war - its a morale booster for the enemy.
Most of the protestors have no fist hand knowledge fo the war. Most are largely unaffected by it. Most would be against any war - no matter the cause. So I take the protests with a big grain of salt and know that they have such a limited understanding of war.
For teh veterans that protest, I feel that it is sad. I hope that their motivation is just. I would imagine that a good deal of them are in some fashion motivated by fear. But they represent a definite minority in the military.

Great masses? You're sure? The liberal press will cover any protest and puff it up. Keep listening to this liberal trash, it will surely get you informed. Grin.
Don't you think President Bush has more information at his fingertips, and more information than you can gather on how to fight this war?
Before you people ask so many questions on this site, you should become more knowledgeable about what is occuring in the world today. Quit finger pointing until you really know what the finger should be pointed at. There are always people who protest, however very few who actually do anything about it. Have fun out there, it may be short lived. No threat to you personally, just a threat of Islam, If you are not of Islamic faith, you are a weed in God's garden.

By "doing the right thing", President Bush is talking about prosecuting the War on Terror.
Do you think if we left Iraq right now, terror against Americans would stop? Do you think all of the terrorists now gathered in Iraq to fight the American soldier would just go home? Or do you think they would look for more Americans to try to kill? And where are most Americans located??
The soldiers in Iraq are volunteers and there because the CHOOSE to be. The WANT to be there fighting the terrorists rather than fighting them in the streets of Los Angeles, Chicago or New York. The soldiers in Iraq BELIEVE in the mission. The soldiers in Iraq are Democrats and Republicans, conservatives and liberals and the vast majority believe in the mission. Re-enlistments are at an all time high (not to be confused with first enlistments).
And the American military does not change strategy based on public opinion. It shapes it strategy based on results on the battlefield. If what the military does results in dead terrorists and insurgents, you can bet that is what they will continue to do. If the enemy body bags stop filling up as fast, it will look for new strategies. Simple as that.
Have a GREAT Army day!

The GREAT MASSES (ahahahahaha) that showed up in D.C. on March 17 broke and ran after 1 1/2 hours because it was TOO COLD. But those that were there at the Gathering of the Eagles out numbered the WHINY A.S.S. protesters 3 - 1(as reported by the U.S. Park Service in D.C.) Did the media report THAT? Oh, no! That wouldn't have been good news at all1
What did those men and women with the Gathering of the Eagles do? THEY STOOD FAST and true to our military brothers and sisters!
Guess the protesters weren't as willing as you people thought.

I think that the protests are GREAT! Finally, Americans voicing their opinions. I will never understand why the government of America believes that they are so Righteous that they can dictate to the world, which government is the best. Obviously, we have our own problems, inequality, poverty, etc., yet we believe that "our" policy is so good that we can force it down the throats of every other society in the world.
We live in America, where one president (I didn't vote for him) is accused of lying and getting a BJ while in office. Yet, the current president didn't lie, he was just "misinformed" and gave us the wrong information. Time will tell if that statement is true, or if he has been lying all along. Will he be held to the same standards?
My hats off to all the military where ever they are serving. I'm proud to call myself a retired member of the military. At the same time, I'm ashamed at the grief that we have bestowed on people all over the world, because "we know better" than they do, how to run their own countries.

The protests make those who oppose this "war" feel as though they are doing something positive
But, we no longer have representative government-- so--there isn't a single person in position to actually do anything about it that gives a rat's tail about the protests !! They simply don't care !!
A much more effective protest in light of the most recent events should be two fold ------ One Major Protest against the criminal acts of complicity that the Democrats newly elected to Congress to Stop this crap--- have seen fit to perform in Aces on the American public !! They have simply "heeled under" to the current administration on heavy new funding FOR the war efforts and have stood down on every single issue that they had been elected to hold firm on----we are seeing a major betrayal OF the Democratic Party towards their party and all of those who have supported them !!!!
The other protest is one that should be happening over the wholesale "give away" that is going on with the "made for TV" garbage being pumped out on the media BY congress over this supposed "amnesty" stuff for illegals in this country WHILE ALL THE TIME THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IS FACILITATING THE FLOW OF TENS OF THOUSANDS OF ILLEGALS INTO THE COUNTRY AS WE SPEAK !!!!
Just two weeks ago -- the Federal government gave FREE ACCESS STATUS to over 100 Mexican trucking companies who no longer are being held to even go thru a Border Check At the Border anymore---- Free access without any checks at all----- now what do you think THEY'LL be carrying in here ???
But, to get people to get up and say a damned thing about anything means that they have to put down the remote--- set down their beer--- get up off their lazy butt's and actually DO something--- which in my opinion is getting to be closer to the impossible to ask of anyone in this country any more than at any other time in history !!! We just don't want to "inconvienience" ourselves in any way---- perfectly content to allow Rome to burn while we watch another episode of "American Idol" ----what says we even deserve freedom or liberty any more if that's what it has come to--- and no amount of protesting is EVER gonna solve that one --- ever !!!!!

actuality from fiction, actuality variety diction. What have you ever been smoking, and ought to i have some? to communicate about how enormous a failure this conflict replaced into prevalent ought to take 5 e book, and thick ones too. The action of Saddam replaced into criminal. He replaced into the authorities head and placed down revolt and risk to the authorities, a twin of the chinese did in Tiananmen sq., Pinochet did in Chili with the blessing of Uncle Sam, or perhaps G.W. with is secret offshore gulags and torture palaces. the in person-friendly words enormous difference is G.W. is honestly no longer placed on trial for his crimes. And to take a production united states the position it replaced into somewhat risk-free to stroll the streets and there replaced into some form of infrastructure and cut back it to an section the position you're fortunate to have water and ability or life out a civil conflict is not any progression you are able to brag about. And lots of the more youthful adult adult males and females individuals(a minimum of those on the floor and under no circumstances cowering offshore on a deliver or extreme up, untouchable in a bomber)joined because the cost of school is way too extreme for elementary individuals with out athletic means. They joined to get money for faculty. in the journey that they could have gone on to varsity after extreme college do you imagine they doesn't? concept they sat round and say "i opt to connect the military so perchance there'd be a conflict, and that i visit flow kill someone"? I guess in case you extra it up, you'll that the shape of households incomes $seven hundred,000 or more advantageous each year have not gave the lives of thier little children equivalent to the detrimental unmarried verify or those incomes $30,000 or a lot less.

In order for protests to work a lot more people are going to have to participate. Imagine how quick we could end the war if everybody in America stayed home from work for just one day and protested instead? The fact is, most of us have jobs and things to do. We simply don't care so the war will continue.

I think we have too many wannabee Generals, and do-it-your-
self Monday morning quarterbacks in the US. Couple that
with the mud flying during an election year, and presto, you
have an Iraqi mess.

Do your own research and you will find if honest that the reasons the Bush administration entered this disaster was for profit at the expense of our greatest resource, our young American people.
And at the expense of the already damaged reputation of the Nation! This is a contracted war for corporate profit and it worked!!!
The companies Haliburton & Bectel, etc. made mega billions off of the sacrifice of American lives and the economy! This is a racist, classist, white supremacist war and clever for the rich and corrupt to get even richer. This will be the event that has damaged Amerikkkan standing for the next 20 years.
