does anyone who knows anything about tvs have any pointers for a novice?
i will be watching tv through the freeview box and dvds. There will be no sky and no playstation. Someone told me the sony will be worse because although a better tv, it will be not as good as the hd clarity will look worse on terrestrial - correct?
does anyone know a good forum if yahoo turn up no answers?

Sony is the better of the two,BUT you are right if on terrestrial then BOTH will over-pixialated. BUT as you said you will be watching via the freeview which is digitial, therefore the sony is the better.
Depending on the cost difference between the two will almost determine which one.
The sony v2000 ( difference between v2500 ) is the v2500 has 2 hdmi, the v2000 has 1. But the v2000 is only £999, food for thought maybe?.

Hope this helps wg

I install for the biggest electrical distibutor in uk and if you asked me before lcd and plasma came out I would have said Sony everytime. However I am not at all impressed with sonys stuff poor picture and overpriced . Stick to the samsung mate , better picture and you wont get ripped of by the name

I've got the Samsung and it's superb. It's on at www.tribaluk.com for around £750. You'll be paying a lot more for the Sony.

Never buy a samsung. Very poor design tvs, I never seen anymore failing brands than Samsung and all the walmart brands.

Go to www.cnet.com

They got some very good reviews on products you want to buy.

Good luck
