My wife and I tithe 10% of our gross income. Despite the fact that "the world" says this isn't important, we believe it is and we are teaching this to our children.
I have worked in our church's Stewardship Ministry and I don't know what people's incomes are, but taking a guess and seeing what is donated, it appears to me that most regular attenders of church contribute somewhere in the 2% - 3% area. That, combined with the fact that 60% of people in the United States in an average year don't give a dime to any church makes for a pretty sad state of affairs in my opinion.

My church do NOT pass the basket, we have a little slot in the wall for people to pay their tithes. And in the 50 yrs. my pastor has pastored, he has been around this world 4 times preaching, & we also send out 8 times a year a paper that has a sermon on it. All free of charge, & now we also have an interent services. And God has provided the funds all these years. No, my pastor does not own an airplane nor a fancy car, Now how much do I put in, I put in at least 10% plus. My tithes & offerings average between 10 & 11% & sometimes higher.

I usually put in coupons for really good sales at Thrift way, sometimes the codes under the cap of my Dr. Pepper for Internet download prizes, oh and if I don't finish the sandwich I'm eating in church before they pass the basket I'll put in a piece for the preacher although He's said He doesn't like salmon salad or peanut butter and jam and that's all I'll eat ( I'm mostly vegetarian ) so there has been some friction over that. Hey, we're all doing what we can.

I love that the church has made people believe that 10% is the right amount. Tithing should be what you can afford and what you want, not a requirement and no percentage should be placed on it. That just makes me wary. I give a couple of dollars and double on holidays. I'd rather the church (catholic at least) take some of their riches and get rid of the pedophiles and allow priests to marry.

1Cor. 16.1,2 says to givre as God has prospered you
Religious lies have made people think we are stil under
the 10% LAW that Moses gave to the children of Israel
WE ARE NOT!!! Rm. 10:1-4 says the end of the LAW
is CHRIST
The same RELIGIOUS CHURCHES TODAY ARE THE
MAIN REASON FOR HATRED AND WAR
READ THE BIBLE AND FIND OUT CHRIST DIED
FOR A NEW AND BETTER WAY TO LOVE AND TO GIVE
2COR. 9:6-8; HEB 727-28; 8:1-13
WE ARE NO LONGER UNDER THE TITHE BUT LOVE

I tithe and usually only put in 5.00 a service. I prefer to give to special projects that the Lord lays on my heart. Missions, building projects, feeding the hungry, Teen Challenge etc.

People in religions are in the "basket"!!!
They're "basket"-heads!!!
People who go to church are Spiritual LOSERS!
Here's the Solution:
Create a private, personal, direct, divine Relationship with Our Creator and save your Soul from religion.
Only with Our Creator's Love and Peace will we be Truly Free!
Without God, there is No Love; Without religion, there are No Wars!
"religion is Spiritual fraud"; "religion is the Worse invention of humanity" - Jesus Christ
