I had noticed that Minnie went to hide under my sofa. She has in the past gone under the couch when she would get foxtails in her ear. Now I don't know what to think because she went under there yesterday and she is having shivers and her tail is between her legs. If this keeps up I am taking her in to the vet but has anyone with a dog experienced this? She is not vomiting or having any bowel problems. Thanks in advance.

The shivering And hiding indicate she is very sick. there may be pain somewhere in her body, that will cause them to shiver and hide. Get her to the vet as soon as possible.

Best wishes for both of you.

Have your vet check her for hypothyroid. Our dog developed it , and it's just a simple test, by taking a blood sample. If the thyroid is underactive, the body temp goes down, and the dog chills easily. If this is the problem it is easily treated with pills. Either way, do not try to diagnose this yourself. Get her to the vet, ASAP, especially if it is something serious. Every minute you delay could be important. We bought her a sweatshirt to wear to help keep her warm in the colder days. Good luck!

Shivering in dogs denotes, cold, fear, pain, or illness, if she's not cold or scared it's pain and illness and she does need a vet ASAP to find out what is going on. You can't diagnose distemper just from shivering by the way, but you do need a diagnosis by a vet either way. Good luck hope she's better soon.

Get her to the vet straight away. It sounds like distemper which is fatal in dogs. The longer you leave it, the less chance your vet will have to help her.

take her to the vets now. it doesnt sound like a behavior problem cause that is what dogs do when they are scared. but this doesnt seem to be that. i would take her to the vet as soon as possible.
