I have one suitcase weighing 20kg, but have additional luggage to take home. What are the average prices for an additional suitcase. Is this based on weight?

Depends on who you are flying with. I know that BA have put their prices up recently on Excess baggage and are very strict these days about charging you.

The rule is generally one suitcase to be checked in and one carry on. They may not even allow you to take any extra cases even if you are willing to pay.

I would call the airline first and then make arrangements if needed with one of the courier companies (fedex, dhl, etc) to take your excess

U can try calling the airport to check on "Unaccompanied luggages".Or try to make sure that whas in ur additional luggage is not that heavy.Coz extra weight are charged by weight for sure.It wud cost u around 15-20GBP per kilo. But that also depends on which airline ure flying with.Hope that helps.

If you fly the traditional "Kangaroo route" via Asia, you will be restricted to 20-23kg.

If you fly with an airline that travels through North America, ie Air Canada, United Airlines, BA/QF via USA, or Air New Zealand via LAX, you will be allowed to carry 2 pieces of luggage each weighing about 24kg.
