I am glad you are taking the initiative to return to the Church. Jesus is definitely smiling today! I would first tell you not to worry about doing all the "correct" actions, prayers, etc. The most important thing to remember is what Jesus instead told us about the commandments. He had two: Love God above all things and Love thy neighbor as thyself. (He was a simple guy himself and didn't have all kinds of rules and regulations)
If truly live your life according to those two tenets, you're already doing what Jesus really wanted.

That said, you still don't want to feel like a fool or miss out on all the beautiful traditions of the Catholic Church. If you go to Mass, there is usually a book in the pew, or in the back of the church called a missalette, or Sunday's missal or something like that. You can follow along with the priest as he says the mass and it will give you all the prayers as well as when to sit, stand, etc. I believe. If not, just follow the crowd with those directions.

Of course, to be truly Catholic, you must be baptized into the Church, so if you're not you will have to go through the RICA program at your church, which stands for Rite of Initiation of Christian Adults, I believe, and teaches adults all the basic beliefs of the Catholic Church. You would then be baptized, receive Holy Communion, and be confirmed all at the same time on Easter. If you are baptized, which I assume you are, you might ask the priest if you could just attend the program to freshen up on Church teaching. Or perhaps, he could suggest another program for returning adults which they are now offering in the Church.

Good Luck!

Praise the Lord!
I cannot give you a straightforward answer because I do not know whether you have been baptised or confirmed as a Catholic. But there is really no problem. Just go to a parish and give them your story. If you can talk to a priest so much the better. I will pray for you.

Peace and every blessing!

I wish I could help you -and I will if I can- but the best way to go would be going to a Catholic church nearby and ask the priest. He'll be more than glad to help you.
Also I would recommend you to read the Catholic Catechism, this will not only guide you but also clarify your thoughts about what you are choosing to be.
And of course, pray, you alone and God and ask other to pray for you so you can start learning again...I will pray for you.

I suggest praying about it, and going to church, and talking to a priest, perhaps making a few new friends who would be willing to help guide you in your spiritual walk. If you're very intent on learning before returning try your local library for some books on the subject.

Well why don't you just pray about it. If you are looking for spiritual guidance the Lord will bring you someone who'll lead you in the right direction. It might not even be Catholic it could be anywhere just trust God. He'll answer your prayer.

Welcome home.

The most important thing to do in your faith journey is go to Mass regularly.

You did not mention if you had received First Communion yet.

If you have received First Communion then I suggest you go to Reconciliation (Confession) and start receiving the Eucharist at Mass. Contact the parish office and see if there are any adult religious education classes available.

If you have not received First Communion then I suggest you contact your local parish and ask about information about their RCIA Inquiry group. You can go and ask any questions you want. This is the first step in RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) but you can stop at any time.

Most colleges have Catholic student organizations. You might also want to investigate if one is available at your college.

Some basic Catholic prayers can be found at:

With love and prayers in Christ.

No problem. Get yourself a copy of the Catechism of the Catholic Church - and read. It will jog your memory and teach you things about Catholicism you never knew before.

Were you confirmed? If not, talk to your priest about RCIA. This will teach you the Faith. If you have been confirmed, I'd still suggest attending RCIA anyway for the education. Also, go to Mass. You probably won't understand everything at first, but that's okay. Being in our Lord's presence and being able to pray to Him will do wonders for you.

Again, talk to your priest and explain your situation. He'll point you in the right direction.

God bless, and welcome home.

It's simple, you get a rosary, a crucifix, a bathtub and a statue of mary, bury the tub on its end halfway down and put the statue of mary in it, then put the crucifix on the wall and cary the rosary around.
