Stubborn? Some would call them that. Others prefer to call them "independent" or "willful."
Aggressive toward humans? No way. Never. These are supposed to be mild-tempered dogs.
Having a good disposition is even part of the breed standard:
QUOTE FROM AKC PAGE:
Temperament
The disposition should be equable and kind, resolute and courageous (not vicious or aggressive), and demeanor should be PACIFIC and dignified. These attributes should be countenanced by the expression and behavior.

I added the capital letters to the word "pacific" above because I wanted to draw special attention to it. Pacific means: peaceable or mild, tending to make or preserve peace.... you get the idea.
If a bulldog is acting aggressive I would wonder why and how it was made that way.

All bully breeds are stubborn. They require constant training. It's like having a toddler in your house. They are not all aggressive though. Most dogs need socialization to prevent it.

English Bulldogs have been bred for many generations to be "independent". If you want a dog that is "human focused", that is listens to humans for direction, then I humbly suggest a different breed.

Stubborn, yes! Aggressive....not unless they are untrained or mistreated. You are going to FORCE a Bully to do anything they don't want to do.
