It is very common for people to dream about ex-partners. Individuals that have been an important part of our lives continue to take up a part of our mind and heart. It is impossible to very dramatically shut the person out of thoughts and feelings. Just because the relationship ends does not mean that all is finished. You will continue to dream about your ex until you "let go" of her on a very important level, or until you learned your lessons from that relationship. Either way, dreaming about your ex-romance does not predict future involvement. It may be wish-fulfillment, reliving memories, or working out old issues.

Ex's often pop up in dreams when you start a new relationship, even if your ex was horrible. You have begun a new relationship, yet for four years you only knew one woman and had a relationship with her (one hopes!) - it's natural for your brain to revert back - especially when you start doing things with your new gf that you used to do before with your ex. Don't sweat it - she's history and had you wanted her back, 6 months has gone by and you'd have done it by now. Don't go back and try not to think about it either.

Ex
To dream about your ex-boyfriend/girlfriend or ex-husband/wife or that you and your ex got back together again, suggests that something or someone in your current life that is bringing out similar feelings you felt during the relationship with your ex. The dream may be a way of alerting you to the same or similar behavior in a current relationship. What you learn from that previous relationship may need to be applied to the present one so that you do no repeat the same mistake. Alternatively, past lovers often highlight the positive experiences you had with that person.
In particular, to see your ex-husband/wife in your dream, indicates that you are finding yourself in a situation that you do not want to be in. It suggests that you are experiencing a similar relationship or situation which makes you feel unhappy and uncomfortable.
To see your mate's ex in your dream, suggests that you may be comparing yourself to the ex. The dream is trying to tell you not to make the same relationship mistakes that ended that relationship.
Alternatively, seeing your ex in your dream also signifies aspects of yourself that you have x'd out or neglected.
Ex-lover
1. The ex-lover is thinking about the dreamer intensely, and projecting telepathic messages towards her which she receives in her dreams.
2. Incompletions with this person that need to be resolved within the dreamer before he is truly free to move on to a new relationship.
3. Similarities between this past relationship and situations now in the dreamer's life. Solutions to current difficulties may be resolved by the dreamer's remembering how he dealt with the ex-lover.
Good Luck!!!

Your unconsciously making comparisons between the two.
Your new girl will do or say something and your mind makes a comparison with the old Girlfriend. It's normal to some degree.. It will pass in time.. You did after all spend a lot of time with the old Girl..oold habits are hard to forget..
