There are all sorts of memory "devices" that you can use. Mnemonic devices, pacing the floor during memorization, repetition...I don't know them all but if you slow your nife down so that you can absorb information properly, you should see results in little time.

I have read that doing word problems, crosswords, and memory games help with maintaining and improving memory in Alzheimer patients. So I would say find some good logic problems and exercise your brain. It is a muscle the more you exercise it the less likely you will see you memory deteriorate.

here's what we did in the army. take one object in the morning. look at it for 30 seconds then hide it from view all day. Think about this object all day, details such as color, shape, size, was the object chipped anywhere. Don't write anything down all day. now before you go to bed write all you can on the object on a sheet of paper, put as much detail as you can. Now grab the object and compare to what you wrote. You should be shaky at first but you will get better, and as you progress increase the amount of object you try to remember. good luck this really works.

Our brains are basically a muscle, so the more you use it the fitter it becomes! Try different ways of memorising things and see which way works best. Repetition, pacing the floor, associations.

Brahmi is a natural herb which is supposed to help, as is gingko.

Reducing stress in your life also helps!

Hope this helps.

Practice. Focus when reading and read aloud. If memorizing visual data (images etc) speak aloud the items you wish to remember, e.g. I see a river, blue sky and a house. This is one of the easiest ways of increasing memory retention...
