Air pollution comes from many sources, here are just a few of them...
> Fuel for transportation, the burning of gas and diesel
> Electricity generation, the burning of coal and sometimes oil
> Agriculture, animals produce a lot of methane and farming produces a lot of nitrous oxide
> Mining and quarrying, a lot of methane is released
> Deforestation, burning and cutting down of forests for timber, agricultural and building land
> Biodegredation, trees and plants when they decay release a lot of carbon dioxide
> Effluent, treated and untreated sewage produces, amongst other things, a lot of methane
> Domestic heating, requires fossil fuel consumption
> Waste disposal, landfill and other methods of disposal produce all sorts of pollutants including cyanide and methane
> Fires, anything that burns produces lots of pollutants especially plastics, rubber etc.
Basically anything that is burned and anything that decays gives off pollution.

The latest research shows that the methane from cows and pigs is a major factor in the increase of "heat trapping gas". It's actually 23 times more potent as a heat trapping gas than is carbon dioxide. http://www.greenpeace.org/international/campaigns/climate-change/science/other_gases According to the newest UN report on Global Warming, "Livestock are responsible for 18 per cent of the greenhouse gases that cause global warming, more than cars, planes and all other forms of transport put together." http://news.independent.co.uk:80/environment/article2062484.ece
