Ignore those that say sanitary pads will do
They are wrong, I've had 4 babies and you will need maternity pads
I'd also recommend disposable Knickers as you really don't want to wash your pants after.
A dressing gown, slippers and Jarmies
You also need nappies for baby, a hat and vests, and babygros
Anything else you will be given in hospital.
Lots of luck and don't be scared it's wonderful

the sanitry pads you will need is an individual thing like periods some women need regular some need super, so why not take a packet of each and then see which ones you will need, The maternity pads are very good for the first two days but then the regular ones can be used after that but everyone is different. good luck.

Regular will do, I used the Always Night Time Pad, its extra long and absorbant but I did need to double up on them so the pads went right to the elastic at the top of my knickers as the blood seemed to leak everywhere! I also swear by disposable knickers too, I wore a pair under my regular knickers just for that extra protection.

Usually the hospital would give you a list for your bag. Sanitary towels, the kind for normal period are adequate.

bless you i been there to .........you will need sanitary towels slightly thicker than the ones you would normally use nappies for the baby and baby clothes they supply a lot of the stuff but its nice to have your own and baby creams wipes etc a few clean nighties and a spare dressing gown a clean underwear all your own toiletries and slippers plus a suitcase to put it all in lol
hope all goes well and good luck to the new arrival when he/she comes into the world

It all depends on how heavy you bleed and where it flows after the birth. I hate to admit this but it worked well for me...I used disposable diapers (just like the ones my baby uses). You see sometimes I would flow to the front and sometimes to the back...this way I had both ways covered (no more messes). Good luck!

I'll be honest with you,i packed mine on the night!!ha ha!i took in a shop brand of maternity pads in and they were far too bulky!my step-mum then brought in the"Allways with wings super+with the wipe attached" absolutely fab!kept everthing absorbed, and the wipe kept things refreshed!!il use them again, and im not one for sanitary pads, all supermarkets, such as;ASDA and MORRISONS sell them!!hope this helps, good luck with the labour!and the arrival!

hi, silly i know! not a girl.. but my wife did just have a baby and i do the shopping lol

you'll need night towels the stronger the better! (you know you get the tear drops as a scale the most as poss! think its around 6-7)

my wife have the ones with wings as they stay in place better, these are selling at 2 for £2.50 in the co-op at the mo!

hope this helps

the first few days are heavy and you'll want more than just a regular pad. after a few days the flow will lessen but you might want a big pad for heavy flow just in case. after about a week or so you can use a regular pad. no tampons, though.
while you are in the hospital they will provide you with appropriate pads.
good luck!

i bought some on saturday from babies r us, they are maternity pads but the ultra thin ones, thewere only 1.80 so cheap enough. get some disposable maternity briefs as well, they were 1.99 for a pack of 5.
