so my son lives with me nothing is settled by the courts, except child support. basically i let his father see when whenever he wants to and i am never to strict about it. yesterday i let him come take him for a few hours, and then i called him and said i needed to come get him to he could get some dinner (he is 18 months old by the way) so i told him i wasnt sure when i would be there, but when i showed up i could hear my son crying and i looked at a girl i knew that was sitting on the couch and i said what's wrong with him? she said oh his dad went in there and shut the door, so i walked over and opened the door (he usually doesnt keep it shut anyway) there he was with two of his friends and he was the onr holding the bong. obviously smoking pot with my child in the very next room, i was instantly pissed! i grabbed my son and left without saying anything to him, he then called me and said he couldnt understand what i was so mad about. DUH!!
what should i do.

Actually I had this same situation with my mother. Yes, my MOTHER! I told her that either she had to stop while she was caring for my kids or she would not be allowed to see them unsupervised. She had grandparent visitation through the courts so she tried to throw that in my face. She refused to alter her lifestyle, which would have been in the best interests of the court so I took her back to court and had her visitation revoked. You can do the same thing in your situation, get custody established, visitation established along with specific guidelines and request a hair sample drug test if you like. You can request supervised visitation until you are more comfortable. It's not right when a toddler can test positive for marijuana just because of a contact high!

tell him if he wants your son he cant smoke pot when he has him, you dont care if he does it when he doesnt have him, cant he stop for a few hours while he is being a dad?? if he doesnt, dont let him have your baby and go to court to get full custody, dont forget to mention the drug use

time to back to court. have a specific schedule worked out with the judge. telll your lawyer whats been going on. you may have to make his visits supervised. that is unexceptable and completely irresponsible behavior.
